Groundwork

Groundwork manages 64 allotment sites across Barnsley on behalf of Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. This includes the administration of plots, dealing with issues on site and general maintenance.

Since taking over the management of the sites, Groundwork’s team has also made significant improvements by clearing up sites previously blighted by fly-tipping, chopping back overgrown vegetation and erecting fences bring plots back into use.

You are NOT able to pay allotment rental fees on our website.

Rent fees will be invoiced to you by Barnsley Council, if you are looking to pay your allotment rent please see the back off your invoice for details on how to pay or call 01226 787787

Apply For An Allotment

If you would like to apply for a plot, you will need to complete the application form at the link below

The allotment sites across Barnsley are incredibly popular and therefore often have waiting lists. Upon submitting your form, you will be placed on the relevant waiting list and will be contacted with an offer once you reach the top of the waiting list.

Our Agreement

You can view a sample copy of the tenancy agreement that explains what you can expect from us and what we'll expect from you as an allotment holder.

If you've not already applied for an allotment you can do so by going to the "Apply For An Allotment" section in the sidebar. You will be added to the waiting list for that site. 

Once you're at the top of the waiting list two copies of the tenancy agreement will be sent out to you along with an offer letter, you will need to sign and return both copies along with the £15 per plot admin fee. Until we receive both copies and the admin fee the plot will not be assigned to you.

We also recommend taking a copy of any letters you send us for your own personal records in the event that your returned paperwork gets lost in the post.

If you have been offered an allotment plot, you will need to pay a £15 administration fee. Please follow the online payment instructions by clicking on the button below. Please note this is non-refundable.

Your query will be submitted to our allotments ticketing software where one of our team members will help you. You'll be able to track your ticket, see a history of all your tickets and close a ticket when its resolved.

Terminate Your Plot

If you wish to give up your plot, you will need to complete a termination form. You can download this at the link below. We advise all tenants to keep a copy of this for their records.

Before you can submit this form you will need to get a termination code by contacting us on 01142 636422.

This is a preventative measure designed to stop the unauthorised termination of plots. Once we have received your request we will inform Barnsley Council and confirm your cancellation.
