Bikes4All is a community bike enterprise, providing a wide range of cycle related activities, services and opportunities.
The project encourages cycling as a safe and pollution free means of transport, fitness and enjoyment.
The idea began in Leicester in September 2003 as a response to the growing number of bikes being needlessly sent to landfill. Initially the project focused on refurbishing bikes and donating or selling them to low income families, then expanded into education and cycle related promotional activities and services.
Bikes4All Dearne Valley aims to provide products and services to schools, community groups, private organisations/companies and private individuals.
The cycle industry in the UK is at present in a period of rapid expansion and growth due to the current environmental and economic climate. We're aiming to link into this growth industry with a flexible arsenal of products and services and a ‘can do’ mentality.
Products and services include:
- Accredited and non accredited bicycle maintenance and repair training programmes
- National standard ‘Bikeability’ training for schools and the general community
- A mobile workshop, delivering maintenance and repair training in community centres, schools and other locations
- Dr Bike sessions
