I want an allotment but you said there is a waiting list. I’ve been to the site and there are empty plots. Why can’t I have one?

Despite these plots being empty, they are still being leased to someone who is paying rent. We regularly visit allotment sites and if we see unused plots, we will contact the owner to either ask them to use the plot or to give the plot up so someone else can have it. This process takes a certain amount of time so any vacant plots will soon be dealt with.
