Enterprise Camp is offered to Talent Match customers in the Sheffield City Region. It is specifically geared towards young people who have an interest in staring their own business.
The camp begins with a two-night adventure residential in Thirsk. The teams spend a couple of days challenging themselves and building strong team bonds.
In the evening, the participants learn about creative thinking and advertising.
We headed over to the activity centre to find out exactly what was going on.
The day started with a spot of archery. As well as the traditional circular targets, the team also got to play ‘zombie archery’, which is a competitive race to kill the zombie on the board.
After a quick coffee break, it was time to grab a harness and helmet and attempt to scale the climbing wall.
With different levels of difficultly, the team really impressed by trying every option offered to them.
In fact, we soon realised that there was a very talented climber amongst the team who actually managed to climb all the way to the top of the wall and on to the platform at the top. Now, that is pretty good!
Letting the teams rest was not an option so straight after lunch, it was time to hit the water.
Each pair of participants (and the staff!) were given a canoe and two paddles.
After getting a feel for the water, it was time to play some games!
Perhaps one of the funniest games was ‘fruit salad’, which involves all canoes lining together side by side. Each participant is randomly split into three teams: pomegranate, strawberry and banana. The instructor then calls out a team name and everyone in that team has to swap seats!
It continues to get even scarier when the instructor calls out “fruit salad”! This results in everyone having to move seats!
Needless to say, everyone got quite wet!
These were just some of the activities that our brave participants took part in! We will soon be back with a few more snippets from the day, including raft building and the precarious rope ‘bridge’!
