Grammar Street had already secured support from Transform Your Patch, a major campaign by Britvic and Groundwork to improve parks, playgrounds, skate parks and five-a-side pitches around the country, but the extra money will make an even bigger difference.
The project won the extra cash after a public vote held by Transform Your Patch, one of the UK’s most ambitious community-led regeneration schemes. It was up against three other projects in the region.
The project is being delivered by the Wildlife Trust for Sheffield and Rotherham as part of their ‘Living with Nature’ programme, which is a partnership between the Wildlife Trust, The University of Sheffield and Sheffield City Council. The project idea has been developed with input from the local community, particularly the Langsett and Walkley Community Association.
Transform Your Patch is a partnership between leading environmental charity Groundwork and soft drink brands from Britvic and PepsiCo. More than 160 spaces around the country are being helped by Transform Your Patch money and 12 (one in each region) have qualified for the super-size funding.
