Last Saturday morning local volunteers helped Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and Groundwork Dearne Valley to cut back vegetation, pick up litter and clear out the pond.

A further event is being held this Saturday 24 November 2012 at Pottery Ponds in Swinton from 10a.m. - 1p.m.  People are invited to turn up anytime between these times to join in with the clearing and tidying of this site.  All tools and gloves will be provided, but people are requested to wear sensible footwear.  Light refreshments will be provided.  All under 16's must be accompanied by an adult.

Jenny Yates, Special Projects Co-ordinator at Groundwork Dearne Valley said, "With funding cut backs local green spaces are at risk of becoming neglected, so this project is a great way for local people to make sure they are kept well looked after and to give something back to their community."
